Practice & Qualifying
Practice: 20-minute session for all drivers to prepare for qualifying and races. No tyre restrictions apply.
After 20 minutes, Qualifying begins in the same lobby. Practice times do not carry over. Drivers have 20 minutes to set a competitive lap to determine grid order.
Qualifying Rules
- No tyre restrictions during qualifying.
- Tyre wear will be on for all qualifying sessions
- Be mindful of others setting flying laps — move aside on slow laps.
- If slower on a racing lap, you’re not required to move, but must race fairly.
- Intentional blocking results in grid demotions (up to three strikes).
- Lap times with “Track Cut” warnings are invalid.
Sprint Race
- Duration: up to 20 minutes.
- No tyre wear or mandatory stops.
- All driving etiquette rules apply — race cleanly, fairly, and within limits.
Feature Race
- Duration: up to 40 minutes.
- Must use at least two different tyre compounds during the race.
- No specific number of pit stops required.
- All driving etiquette rules apply — race cleanly, fairly, and competitively.
Formation Lap
- 1 formation lap before Sprint and Feature races.
- Drivers must hold qualifying positions and engage the Pit Speed Limiter.
- Stay single file; no side-by-side until crossing the start/finish line.
- Leader controls the race start at the line; others may accelerate only once the leader does.
Flags & Lapped Cars
Formula X has no automated flag system. The host may invoke flags manually when required.
Yellow Flags
- Used after major collisions. All drivers must engage Pit Limiter until cleared.
Blue Flags
- Lapped cars must allow leaders past within three corners when requested.
- Communicate clearly when being lapped.
Lapped Cars
- May unlap safely but must not impede or block others.
- If unable to pull away, yield again to faster traffic.
On-Track Etiquette
- Drive within your limits; maintain control at all times.
- Respect rivals — no deliberate contact or reckless lunges.
- If you leave the track, rejoin safely and yield if necessary.
- Be aware of surroundings; check mirrors before changing line.
Overtaking & Defending
- Attacker must be in control and at least alongside into braking zone.
- One defensive move allowed; weaving or multiple blocks is prohibited.
- When side-by-side, leave at least a car’s width.
Contact Rules
- Contact causing a spin, crash, or position loss will be reviewed.
- No “bump-and-run”. Minor rubbing happens, but never deliberate.
- If you gain by contact, give the place back promptly.
Track Limits
- Keep at least two wheels within track limits at all times.
- Consistent cutting or running wide for advantage will be penalised.
- If you gain a position off-track, return it immediately.
Starts & Rejoins
- Lap 1: extra caution — cold tyres and heavy traffic.
- After an off, rejoin parallel to traffic; don’t cut across the racing line.
Penalties & Enforcement
- 3-strike system for blocking or unsportsmanlike behaviour.
- Repeated offences may result in session removal or grid demotion.
- Major incidents reviewed by admins with discretion applied.
Note: Rules and formats may be refined throughout the season. Always check for the latest updates before race day.

- Video evidence is strongly recommended; multiple angles help.
